5 Outdoor Furniture Trends You Will Find in the NEW Summer Classics Product Line
1. Low Back Curves
The barrel back chair is rolling in style in 2020 when it comes to outdoor furniture trends. First introduced last year in a number of collections including Havana and Newport, this design has been a designer favorite for its comfort-hugging curves and endless style possibilities.
Our Summer Classics designers took this outdoor furniture trend and expanded it. Both are similar in silhouette but different in style, the barrel back trend is infused throughout the new Malibu and Santa Barbara collections. For a more coastal look, the Malibu collection mixes natural woven finishes with this modern silhouette. And for a more sleek and modern look, the Santa Barbara incorporates Indonesian teak in this low-profile frame design.
2. Cushionless Innovation
Summer Classics achieves comfort in a number of ways through consistently innovative ideas and high-quality craftsmanship — one of them being cushionless furniture. Though this is nothing new to the Summer Classics line, our designers pushed the design limit this year by researching what is most important and most popular to YOU, our customer.
This year we are excited to introduce a new, upgraded version of our popular Skye Collection and Athena Collection. Now offered as a reticulated version of two Summer Classics “classics,” the new Athena and Skye Plus collections add the ease of cushionless, maintenance fee product in a more contemporary and worry-free style.
3. Modern Forms
Modern lines are a top interior design trend and it is expanding into outdoor living spaces, offering a seamless visual transition. Contemporary style with clean lines, textures, and shapes have taken over more traditional styles, particularly among younger homeowners. Instead of only catering to the younger generation, the Summer Classics design team created two new collections that will appeal to all generations and design styles: Elegante and Claro.
Available in two new matte finishes — chalk white, and midnight black — the new Elegante collection offers an understated elegance. Its streamlined and low-profile wrought aluminum frame mixed with the contemporary lattice-work design allow this modern collection to pair with a variety of styles, including the Claro collection. A new introduction to the 2019 product line, the design team has expanded this innovative and trend-driven design to a functional lounge chair.
4. Traditional with a Twist
Offering a modern take on traditional outdoor furniture, Summer Classics is introducing two new collections that embody everything traditional, yet infuse unique detailing for a transitional twist. With high-back frame designs, wrought aluminum craftsmanship and slim silhouettes, the new Monaco and Carmel collections came to life.
If you loved the old Summer Classics Villano collection, then you will be excited about the revamped version of this classic — the Monaco Collection. Monaco is a timeless look that combines a slim silhouette with refined accents and a signature x-frame design. Similar in style, yet different in silhouette, the new Carmel collection features an airy, open-frame design, adding a sense of lightness to the enduring wrought aluminum construction.

From fashion to furniture, Chambray is having a moment this year! This timeless color is the perfect combination of misty blues and gray hues that can go with any outdoor style whether that be English garden chic, coastal cool, or mountain lodge blues. With over 10 fabrics that are a part of the chambray color story, these new fabrics are sure to be a hit for 2020!
