Right on time for midsummer stargazing, we’re excited to share another beautiful collaboration with Mollie of Design Loves Detail, one of our incredibly talented Summer Classics StyleMakers.
Inspired by the Hamptons home design and tailored lightweight style, Mollie designed this summertime sanctuary for her family and friends to enjoy. Check out our project recap, then head over to Mollie’s blog for the full patio reveal!
Remembering her travels across the East Coast–– “lobster bakes and lazy summer days” ––Mollie shares, “I’ve always had an obsession with the Hamptons.” When designing the patio, she didn’t let her land-locked location stop her from adding “upscale coastal” elements like classic stripes and rattan furniture that mix together in their own unique way.

Mollie’s patio design was inspired by New York’s iconic beach getaway: The Hamptons.
Using a metaphor for culinary success, Mollie explains that combining metal and woven textures leads to a “full flavor” space. Like a perfectly dressed summer salad, the contrasting “flavors” of her patio enhance each other, building layers of balance and beauty to delight the senses. She says, “ the designs that really speak to me are dimensional and include mixed textures and finishes.” While a matching patio set might feel bland, Mollie’s mix-and-match outdoor style feels rich, bright and complex––pretty tasty, right?
Mollie’s Patio Picks for a Hamptons-Inspired Home Design

Summer Classics’ Newport Collection lends an airy seat keeping the Hampton Home design style in mind
- Newport Barrel Chairs: Summer Classics’ Newport Barrel Chairs are Mollie’s favorite part of the patio makeover. “ I love that they combine the traditional look of wicker with a unique curved shape…In addition to the timeless style and notable comfort, these chairs are also made to stand the test of time because they’re crafted from durable resin wicker!”
- Striped Ottomans: “I brought in a pop of pattern with the fun round striped ottomans (you can get these in tons of different fabric options!). I love that the poufs are great for putting your feet up after a long day and also can be used as extra seating when needed.”
A crisp white palette complements Mollie’s transitional home, mirroring her organic modern interior style.
- Trestle Iron Dining Table: “I just adore the beautifully detailed base and the Travertine tabletop is so heavy and perfect for outdoor use.”
The more the merrier! Roomy benches maximize seating around Mollie’s outdoor dining table.
- Club Aluminum 60” Benches & Newport Arm Chairs: “I went with benches for the sides to provide the most amount of seating and then added the beautiful Newport Arm Chairs as head chairs…I love that juxtaposition of the textured woven wicker material and the smooth slate grey aluminum.”
Design Tip: Add Easy, Breezy White Cushions
Why choose white outdoor cushions? They are easy to clean! Mollie agrees, “I personally prefer going with lighter cushions for patio furniture because just like dark floors, dark-colored cushions show all the dust and actually end up looking dirtier.” Summer Classics cushion covers can also be removed for convenient cleaning and care. The next step for this Hamptons-inspired patio? It’s time to enjoy! Mollie is planning plenty of summer barbeques and get-togethers: “ Entertaining is such a wonderful way to show love to others by welcoming them at your table with good food and good company.” To accommodate all her visitors, Mollie chose aluminum benches for the dining area, a great seat for young guests (including the young at heart).
